Into The Mic Workshop
An Introduction to Commercial Voice Over
Ever caught yourself listening to a radio or TV ad and thinking, “I could do that.”?
You’ve been curious about VO but have no idea where to start?
Or maybe you’ve been told “you have a great voice” and thought “I should try Voice Overs!” but don’t know HOW to start or what it TAKES to be a VO Artist?
People like YOU approach me all the time…
That’s exactly why I created Into the Mic — a practical, hands-on introduction to the world of Commercial Voice Over, designed for complete beginners, beginner/intermediate artists, and anyone with zero formal VO training who’s ready to give it a go.
Just bring yourself, your curiosity, and your willingness to play.
We will cover…
The practical foundations you need to get started in the universe of commercial VO — giving you tools you can use immediately, plus a solid foundation you can keep building on as you grow.
We’ll explore:
The Theory
Where did Voice Over come from? How did we get here? And what exactly is commercial VO?
The Technique
Copy analysis, rhythm & cadence, improvisation, and acting for VO, different types of delivery, character vs announcer, basic vocal warm ups and even tongue twisters.
The VO Universe
The different types of work that exist in the commercial world and where you might fit into it.
The Tech Stuff
The basics of home studio setups, recording tools, and what you actually need to get started (spoiler: probably less than you think).
Because great Voice Over isn’t about standing there and “reading the lines.” We will focus on Acting for VO. It’s about thinking, listening, connecting, reacting, and sounding like an actual human being.
We’ll put special focus on finding that conversational quality and personality— learning how to sound natural, believable and connected rather than like you’re… well… doing a Voice Over.
Whether you’re new to the world of VO, or you have some experience and want to tighten up your foundation and add to your tool kit…
Into the Mic is a place to start.
Be ready to play and find your voice!
