About Elaine Del Valle:

Elaine is a native New York, Puerto Rican Director and multi-hyphenate Storyteller.

A dynamic filmmaker with a bold personal voice, Elaine wrote, produced, and directed the independent feature Brownsville Bred—a deeply personal coming-of-age drama based on her own life. Adapted from her autobiographical novel, acclaimed Off-Broadway solo show, and SXSW award-winning short film, the feature premiered as the 2025 Centerpiece at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF), where it was named one of the Los Angeles Times’ “Most Anticipated Films” and won the festival’s only feature award.

Elaine also directed the Tubi Original Midnight Hustle, a dance-drama-thriller now streaming, and has earned recognition from top festivals including SXSWUrbanworldCatalyst Stories, and SeriesFest.

Her fast-rising reputation as a director to watch is underscored by major fellowships and honors. In 2025, she was selected for the prestigious Alliance of Women Directors Mentor Latina Director Fellowship and awarded the Made in NY Women in Media grant—funded by the NYC Mayor’s Office and the New York Funding for the Arts. She is also a WarnerMedia 150 Artist, a Sundance Writer and Director Lab alumna, a Shondaland Directing Program finalist, and a two-time nominee for both the Lynn Shelton “Of a Certain Age” grant and the Imagen Impact Award.

With a proven ability to craft emotionally resonant stories grounded in culture, identity, and resilience, Elaine Del Valle continues to establish herself as a vital voice in contemporary cinema—and one of the most compelling Latina directors working today.

Her TV Director Shadow experiences include on ABC’s Queens under producing director Crystle Roberson and on NBC’s The Irrational under Cherie Nowlan.

Elaine’s short films, Me 3.769 and Princess Cut, can be seen on Max.

As a Writer, across mediums, Elaine’s original one-hour procedural drama pilot, The System, was bought by the CBS network; The New York Times hailed her off-Broadway stage play, “From Girlhood Trials to Onstage Triumph.”  Elaine’s debut novel was named a “Most Inspirational YA Book” by the International Latino Book Awards.

Elaine completed the (by invitation only) 2023 WGA East Showrunner Academy program and is a proud member of the Rideback Rise Writers Circle.

Elaine was trained as an Actor at New York City’s Carnegie Hall by Wynn Handman. She worked on stage and screen, including recurring guest star roles in the ABC drama Queens, and Dora The Explorer. Other guest star roles include on The Resident, and The Sinner. (Acting Reel)

On a mission to tell authentic stories, and expand representation and opportunities for underrepresented artists, Elaine founded Del Valle Productions. She has Produced over 50 titles, and made history as the first person ever to license an interstitial series to HBO.

As a bilingual, with a keen eye and her pulse on the Latino community, Elaine was approached to source on-camera talent. Elaine is a member of CSA and has provided Casting for high profile brands, agencies, and studios, including for Comedy Central and PBS Kids.

Elaine received the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Arts award. She was a NY Board of Education Literacy Day Keynote Speaker. She was featured as an inspirational figure in the PBS documentary series Beating The Odds. The NYC housing projects (where Elaine grew up) named a park bench in her honor for her “outstanding efforts to uplift the community.” In 2024, El Diario (the longest-running Spanish language newspaper in America) named Elaine among its “Mujeres Destacadas” (Outstanding Women).
