Moderated by: Pablo Andrade and Dr. Manuel A. Moran.

Dr. Manuel Antonio Morán is an award-winning Puerto Rican director, producer, composer, actor, and educator. A versatile artist and visionary cultural leader, he has dedicated his career to creating bilingual, socially engaged, and artistically innovative musical theatre that amplifies Latiné voices across generations. He holds degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and New York University (NYU), where he earned a Ph.D. in Educational Theater and advanced studies in Musical Theater, along with specialized training in the United States, Spain, and the United Kingdom. For nearly four decades, as Founder and Artistic Director of Teatro SEA (Society of the Educational Arts, Inc.), Dr. Morán has transformed the company into the leading bilingual TYA Latiné theater in the United States, with offices in New York City, Puerto Rico, and Florida. He also founded El Musical, dedicated to developing and investing in new Latiné musicals, and co-created, with the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico (CMPR), the first Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre in Puerto Rico, and one of its kind in Latin America.

Pablo Andrade is an award-winning actor, director, producer, and teaching artist based in New York City with over 20 years of professional experience. He currently serves as the Artistic and Executive Director of HOLA, founder of Corezon Theater Company, and faculty member at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and HB Studio. As an educator, Andrade has trained actors across the United States, Latin America, and Europe, collaborating with institutions including Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Tectonic Theater Project’s Moment Work Institute, Hispanic Federation, The World Bank, Construyendo Actores (Mexico), El Gimnasio de Actores (Spain), and the National Film and Theatre School of Łódź (Poland). His teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in Uta Hagen’s techniques, enriched by methods from Lee Strasberg, Jerzy Grotowski, Michael Chekhov, and Moment Work. Andrade emphasizes authenticity, creativity, and emotional connection, fostering artistic growth in each of his students. In his leadership roles at HOLA and Corezon, he has developed and led impactful educational initiatives, master classes, workshops, and programs dedicated to nurturing and advancing Hispanic talent in the arts. As a director, Andrade has learned from Tony Award recipients Jack Hofsiss (HB Studio), Thomas Kail (SDCF Observership at The Public Theater), and numerous other distinguished directors. He has directed over 20 productions, including acclaimed works such as Las Vidas Rotas, Seis, Too Close, The Cost of Truth, Forasteros, and September 11, 1973: The Day Salvador Allende Died. His productions are recognized for their innovation and emotional resonance, earning awards such as the Capital Fringe Award for Best Drama (2016, 2022), ATI Awards for Best Monologue Director (2020) and Breakthrough Director (2018), the Fuerza Award for Best Director and Best Play (2017), the HOLA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Directing (2017), and most recently, the 2025 Talía Award from the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts for Best Play by a Hispanic Author in New York. As an actor, Andrade has delivered captivating performances on stage, screen, and television. Notably, he starred in the New York Times Critics’ Pick production of Mario Vargas Llosa’s Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter, directed by José Zayas at Repertorio Español in New York and later at GALA Hispanic Theatre in Washington, DC. His portrayals of Mengo in Fuente Ovejuna (directed by Mariano de Paco Serrano) and Miguel de Erauso in La Monja Alférez (directed by Dani Alonso) earned critical acclaim both in New York and during tours at Spain’s prestigious classical theater festivals. Andrade’s acting accolades include the Talia NYC Award for Best Co-Lead (2023), the Latin ACE Award for Best Actor Drama (2015), and the HOLA Award for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor (2014).
