The Business of Acting
Are you looking to transition to TV and Film? Are you struggling with getting auditions? Do you think it’s because you don’t have an agent? Join me!
This class is for those interested in learning more about the business of acting, specifically in TV and Film. The Goal? To get more auditions! We will cover branding, marketing materials, social media networking, research tools and more.
**This is a working session, so please come prepared to take notes, and be camera ready. Cameras are required to stay on in order to participate.
General Information and Requirements:
- Class will be held in English Language.
- Class will be a virtual format via Zoom.
- Recording of this class is prohibited.
- You will receive an email with the Zoom link one day before the class.
- Please click on the meeting link at least 10 minutes early to take care of any technical issues that may happen. We will not be able to provide technical support during the masterclass.
- Make sure you connect from a quiet room/area, avoid any distractions while the class is in session.
- Be camera-ready. Cameras are required to stay ON for the full duration of the class in order to participate.
- Please DO NOT register if you cannot be present for the entire class.
- No one will be admitted once the class has started. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- There will be a Q&A section at the end of the session.
- Pictures, videos, and/or screenshots will be taken by the HOLA team during the class. By attending, you consent to and authorize HOLA to use and reproduce any such media for any purpose without compensation. All digital files will be owned by HOLA, reserving the right to publish them on HOLA’s website, social media platforms, news releases, and in other communications related to HOLA’s mission and educational program.
- Additionally, participants are required to fill out a survey sent by email after the completion of the class. Your feedback is valuable in enhancing our future events.
About the instructor
Mathia Vargas is a born ‘n bred New Yorker, and first generation Dominican-American. She is bilingual, and, as an actress, has worked on stage, TV and indie film. Her latest film, EN EL SÉPTIMO DÍA, won the 2019 John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Award. In addition to acting, she works as a business of acting coach, and film producer.

In expanding job opportunities for Hispanic actors, HOLA strengthens and supports the available talent pool through its Educational Programs which offers professional development, acting training and networking opportunities for members and the Hispanic community. This is an invaluable resource for artists to further develop their skills, gain practical experience and industry knowledge to support a greater chance of success in their careers. HOLA Master Classes are free for members and scheduled once a month.

- Failure to cancel on time will result in one unexcused absence.
- An unexcused absence will suspend your privilege to register/participate in the next 2 HOLA Master Classes or Workshops.
